Frankford Arsenal Rotary Tumbler Lite – Compact Wet Tumbler
The Frankford Arsenal Rotary Tumbler Lite is the compact version of the Platinum Series rotary tumbler. With a 3.3-litre capacity, this tumbler handles up to 300 cases in .223 Remington per session. Ideal if you reload smaller batches or simply have limited space on your reloading bench.
Compact yet equally thorough
Just like the larger Platinum Series, the Lite version works as a wet rotary tumbler. The drum rotates with your brass, water, and optionally stainless steel media pins, thoroughly removing carbon deposits, powder residue, and oxidation. The steel pins also reach primer pockets and the inside of cases, something a dry vibratory tumbler cannot achieve.
The main difference from the Platinum Series is the size and controls. The Lite has no built-in timer, just a simple on/off switch. For most reloaders this is not an issue: you switch the tumbler on, set a timer on your phone, and after an hour and a half to two hours your brass is clean. Most reloaders run their batches on a fixed routine anyway.
Practical design
The drum is removable from the drive base, making filling and emptying much easier than with tumblers where everything is fixed. You can stand the drum upright, add brass and water, screw on the cap, and only then place it on the motor. The transparent screw cap gives you a view of the cleaning process and is completely leak-proof. No spilled water on your reloading bench.
The drive system is direct drive, meaning no belt. This translates to zero wear parts and zero maintenance. This is the same principle as the larger Platinum Series and a key advantage over cheaper belt-driven tumblers.
Who is the Lite for
The Rotary Tumbler Lite is a good choice if you reload smaller quantities. Think of precision shooters who process 50 to 100 rounds per match in calibres like 6.5 Creedmoor or .308 Winchester, or hunters who reload their hunting ammunition in small batches. It also works well as a second, smaller tumbler alongside your main unit for quick in-between batches.
