Anyone who smokes cigars knows that you don't constantly tap the tip. Only when a large end of ash develops and is in danger of falling off, a small tap in the ashtray is sufficient. Cigars you also often don't smoke in one sitting. You need to be able to put them down, to take a sip of your drink, or to just take a break.
