Archery

We men still have the primal feeling in us, which is why we are all fascinated by arch sports. Cosmically speaking, it was all not so crazy long ago when our ancestors were still chasing wild animals with their arrows and bows. Somehow that image still hasn't completely disappeared from our brains. Unfortunately, these days the average man mostly waits at a desk with a computer on top to show off his daily dose of masculinity.

Rediscover that primal feeling!

Often women today do the shopping. "Honey I'm going to stop by the butcher" she then says. In the old days there was no supermarket and you had to run after your groceries. And if we men are honest we all have to admit it: we would still much rather do archery than just work our heads every day. The fact that as men we are almost never in the kitchen, but all too often behind the BBQ says it all. That primal feeling is still there.

Developments in archery

Actually, the first bows and arrows were the forerunners of the first rifles. With such accessories it became possible to hit opponents or wild animals from a distance. Of course, this was already possible with a spear. But its accuracy and the force you had to exert to get it away left much to be desired. In this respect, the human body has its limitations. The bow and arrow as the first object that we now count as archery was quite an innovation. With it, man learned to use all kinds of physical forces to his advantage.

And it would be a long time after that before the first guns were invented. Substantial improvements were made within the sport of archery, however. The crossbow was invented. It made it possible to aim even more accurately. And firing only required a single squeeze of the trigger. Amazing when you actually think about how people are always able to improve certain things and make them easier.

And although these techniques have long been superseded by guns, they are still fascinating. William Tell is still our hero. You probably know the story of how he freed his people from a false count with his crossbow. This made the crossbow primarily the symbol of freedom and heroism, not necessarily of violence.

What can you find with us?

When it comes to archery, you can find anything and everything in our shop. Choose a handy pistol crossbow with short arrows. Or go for the bigger stuff: a rifle crossbow with long arrows that you rest against your shoulder. Is that too big for you? Most of these big crossbows are collapsible, mind you. By the way, be careful not to injure anyone. It's not called "archery for nothing." It is and always will be a game.

We also have an assortment of handbows, arrows and sinews so that you can string your bow in the best possible way. As you can see, when it comes to archery you can indulge in our web store.
