The Technology Behind the X-Die System
The secret lies in a specially designed mandrel with an expander ball and decapping pin. This mandrel has extremely tight tolerances between the mandrel and the die neck diameter. When you push your case through the die during sizing, this mandrel prevents the neck wall from thickening while the case length is pushed back. Instead of continuing to grow like with standard dies, cases stabilize after a few cycles at a length below maximum without further growth.
The process is simple yet effective. You trim your cases the first time 0.020 inch (0.5mm) below maximum case length. After that, you can resize endlessly without trimming again. Cases initially still grow a few thousandths of an inch but then stabilize permanently below maximum length. Your headspace remains correct, neck tension consistent, and reliability guaranteed.

Each RCBS X-Die Full Length set contains two essential dies. The X-Die Full Length Sizer with the patented mandrel system and a standard Seater Die with built-in roll crimper. The sizer brings your cases to SAAMI minimum dimensions, removes their primers, and expands the neck for bullet placement. The seater die seats your bullets at the desired depth and can crimp them simultaneously for extra security.
Both dies have 7/8 inch-14 standard thread and work on virtually all reloading presses from different brands. The dies are manufactured in the RCBS factory in Oroville, California from high-quality steel with a beautiful finish that enables easy sizing without scratching your valuable cases.
