The Move-Ya-Bastard 2 Posts Barrel Vise from Derraco Engineering is the more compact variant of the popular 4-post version. This barrel clamp is ideal for shooters who occasionally change barrels and do not need the maximum clamping force of the larger model. Despite its more compact design, this clamp shares the same high-quality materials and construction as its bigger brother.
The base is CNC-machined from solid 1045 carbon steel with a nickel coating for rust resistance. The half-circle clamping pieces are manufactured from 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum, providing a firm grip without damaging the barrel. All bolts and nuts are grade 12.9 high tensile, the same quality found in professional tools.
Two thrust bearings for efficient clamping
The 2-post version is equipped with two thrust bearings (model 51102) that reduce friction during tightening. This allows you to generate more downward pressure on the barrel with the same torque. Each bearing can statically handle an axial load of 16,600N (approximately 1.69 tons), which is more than sufficient for standard barrel changing work.
The spring-loaded construction ensures the clamp opens automatically when you loosen the nuts. This makes working with the clamp intuitive and fast.
Seven barrel bushings included as standard
Like the 4-post version, this clamp comes with seven aluminum barrel bushings in the most common sizes: 1 inch, 1.1 inch, 1.12 inch, 1.18 inch, 1.21 inch, 1.25 inch, and 1.5 inch. This allows you to get started immediately with virtually any common barrel profile, from slim sporter contours to heavier tactical barrels.
When to choose 2 or 4 posts?
The 2-post version is suitable for:
- Hobby shooters who change barrels a few times per year
- Barrels that are not extremely seized
- Workshops with limited space
- Shooters looking for a budget-friendly entry point
If you regularly work with seized factory barrels from brands like Tikka or Howa, or change barrels weekly, the 4-post version with its extra clamping force offers more security.
