K&M Precision Flashhole Uniformer: Consistency for Match-Grade Accuracy
The K&M Precision flashhole uniformer is an essential tool for reloaders seeking maximum consistency in their ammunition. This professional tool removes burrs, equalizes the diameter, and chamfers the flashhole at a 60-degree angle, all in one operation. For long-range precision shooting, this makes the difference between groups that fall apart and groups that stay together.
Why Flashhole Uniforming Matters
In industrial case manufacturing, the flashhole is punched into the brass. While this is the most economical method, it produces inconsistencies in shape, size, and especially the interior of the case web. These irregularities cause variations in the primer flame front, leading to inconsistent pressure and velocity from shot to shot. For reloaders pursuing precision, uniforming flashholes has been standard procedure in the benchrest discipline since 1969.
Unique K&M Features
The K&M system distinguishes itself through the integrated depth stop surrounding the cutter. This means your cases don't need to be trimmed to an exact length; the uniformer works from the inside of the case web. The tapered centering guide ensures perfect alignment via the case mouth, so every flashhole is machined precisely centered.
Two Sizes for Different Applications
0.080" (Standard) This size is suitable for the vast majority of standard American and European rifle and pistol cartridges. Nearly all calibers with large or small primers use a 0.080" flashhole. This includes popular calibers such as .223 Remington, .308 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor (large primer versions), .243 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, and many others.
0.062" (PPC/BR) The smaller 0.062" version is specifically designed for precision cartridges with a small flashhole. This size is required for calibers such as 220 Russian, 6mm PPC, 22 PPC, 6mm BR Norma, 6.5x47 Lapua, 6.5 Grendel, and PPC/BR match cases from brands like Lapua and Peterson. Some small primer versions of .308 Winchester (Palma), 6.5 Creedmoor, and .260 Remington also require this smaller uniformer.
Use and Maintenance
The uniformer is inserted through the case mouth and placed on the flashhole. Hold the case base in your palm and lightly press the centering cone into the case mouth with thumb and forefinger. Turn the tool gently clockwise. You'll feel immediately when the cutter is working. The cutting process stops automatically when the depth stop contacts the inside of the case web. Use this tool only on deprimed cases.
The replaceable hardened steel cutter is easy to change and guarantees years of reliable use. The tool features a hexagonal knob that won't roll off your workbench.
