True Flite
True Flite builds match-grade rifle barrels in Gisborne, New Zealand, used worldwide by F-Class, Benchrest, PRS and Palma shooters. The barrels are made from ordnance-grade 416R stainless steel with precision button rifling, for consistent accuracy shot after shot. A major advantage is the short lead time, usually six to eight weeks, where many other manufacturers keep you waiting sixteen weeks or more.

About True Flite
True Flite has been producing precision barrels in New Zealand for years and supplies shooters, gunsmiths and builders around the world, from Australia to Europe and the Middle East. The barrels are made on purpose-built machines, with tight tolerances and proven manufacturing methods that deliver repeatable performance in precision shooting.
How a True Flite barrel is made
Every barrel starts with precision gundrilling for a straight, concentric bore, followed by multi-stage micro-honing for a superior bore finish. The rifling is applied with a precision pulled-button process with tightly controlled twist, and multiple stress-relief cycles ensure dimensional stability. The 416R ordnance-grade steel is made in the United States, has a low sulphur content and is ultrasonically tested before use. Typical of True Flite, no barrel needs straightening during manufacture, which contributes to a stable point of impact, even as the barrel heats up.
Calibers and twists
True Flite covers a wide range, from .20 to .50 caliber. Popular choices for precision shooting include 6mm (.243), 6.5mm (.264), 7mm (.284) and .30, each with several twist options, for .30 caliber for example from 1:7 to 1:17. The twist is right-hand. Custom specifications are possible for specific requirements, where minimum quantities may apply.
Contours and fluting
You decide the shape of your barrel. Besides standard contours such as Palma, Match, F-Class and varmint profiles, True Flite machines almost any contour to measure with CNC. Fluting is available in a straight or twist style, which saves weight and improves heat dissipation. You supply the exact dimensions easily with our contour form on the product page.
Carbon wrapped barrels
If you want to save weight without giving up accuracy, True Flite offers carbon wrapped barrels, with a 416R steel core wrapped in high-grade carbon fiber. They are up to fifty percent lighter than a comparable all-steel barrel, dissipate heat better and keep their point of impact stable under sustained fire. Available in lengths from 16 to over 30 inches, with caliber-specific twists.
A reputation in Palma and Target Rifle
True Flite has a strong name in the Palma and Target Rifle disciplines. Their best-known model is the 30 inch Standard Palma contour with a 1:13 twist and .3075 groove, a barrel that has won countless competitions around the world. These barrels are designed to keep even heavier bullets stable at distances up to 1000 yards.
