ERATAC: craftsmanship since 1867

ERATAC is the tactical brand of Recknagel, a German family business with a history reaching back to 1867. What once began with sights and front beads for the Suhl rifle factories has grown into one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality mounts for hunters and special forces. Since 2010 ERATAC has set a new standard with its tactical line.

The company's roots run deep. Gunsmith Adolf Recknagel set up on his own in 1867 in Albrechts, close to Suhl in Thuringia, the heart of the German firearms industry. There he made front beads, sights and lock parts for the rifle factories. That combination of precision and tradition has always remained the foundation of the company, right through a new beginning after the Second World War.

The history in brief

• 1867: Adolf Recknagel starts in Albrechts near Suhl, making front beads, sights and lock parts for the Suhl rifle factories

• After 1945: a new beginning in West Germany

• 2006: relocation to the current company building in Bergrheinfeld near Schweinfurt

• 2010: launch of the ERATAC brand, with tactical mounts and accessories for the civil and military market

• 2016: introduction of the first hunting silencer, model SOB1, under the name ERA Silencer

• 2019: introduction of the ERA LOC quick-release for the ERA Silencer

• 2020: new ERA Silencer models SOB 2S and SOB 3D

• 2022: Dr. Moritz Fehrer, a passionate hunter, becomes owner and continues the family business in Bergrheinfeld

Built to military standard

What sets ERATAC apart is the build quality. The mounts are produced to strict military standards and proven on a range of weapon systems all over the world. The clamping system meets NATO-STANAG 4694 and is compatible with the MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail. Whether you build a high-end long range setup or want a dependable tactical mount, ERATAC delivers hardware that does not move and returns to exactly the same place.

Many ERATAC mounts come with a choice between a quick-release lever with no losable parts or a version with hex nuts. The brand also offers mounts for various tube diameters and heights, so you tune your setup precisely to your rifle and discipline.

More than mounts

Since 2016 the company has also made silencers under the name ERA Silencer, Made in Germany, including a recent tactical silencer made from 3D-printed Inconel. With that, ERATAC shows that the innovation of 1867 still continues today.
