Big Bore Full Stability bipod - UTG
Some bipods are built for light calibres and precision rifle. This one is not. The UTG Big Bore is designed for heavy rifles and large calibres where the recoil would shift or break a regular bipod. Think .338 Lapua, .375 CheyTac, large PCP air rifles, or even .50 BMG. The construction is built entirely around that: reinforced steel where it matters, and 6061-T6 aluminium where weight can be saved.
Construction
The main body is 6061-T6 aluminium with a matte black anodised finish for corrosion protection. The locking mechanisms, the crossbolt in the picatinny mount and the foot pads are reinforced steel. Each leg has four steel locking lugs that absorb and distribute the shock from recoil. That is twice as many as most bipods. You notice the difference when you put a heavy rifle on the bipod and pull the trigger: nothing moves, nothing shifts, nothing collapses.
Open angle
The 70° open angle is one of the widest in its class. That is deliberate. Heavy rifles have a high centre of gravity and want to tip over. A wide open angle prevents that. The rifle stands firmly, even when you let go momentarily to adjust your position or your scope.
Pan and tilt
35° panning and 55° tilt left and right, both with tension adjustment. Turn the lever to set the resistance you want. Tight for precision shooting, looser when you need to switch targets quickly. On uneven terrain you level your rifle without having to adjust your legs.
Legs and feet
The legs adjust in height from 23 to 35 centimetres and lock at the desired length. Press the Posi-lock button and the legs retract automatically. The buttons are large enough to operate with gloves. The legs fold in five positions: forward, rearward, 45° and 90°, bidirectional. The steel foot pads are oversized, serrated for grip, and rotate with the terrain. On uneven ground they always sit flat.
Mount
The picatinny mount is longer than on most bipods. More contact surface with the rail means less chance of shifting under recoil. The squared steel crossbolt clamps the bipod firmly and prevents rotation. With large calibres that is not a detail but a requirement.

Who is it for
Shooters with heavy calibres who need a bipod that will not break. ELR shooters on .338 and up. Owners of large PCP air rifles like the Texan in .50. Or anyone who wants a bipod built to handle more than it will probably ever see. The Big Bore is heavier than a lightweight PRS bipod, but that is exactly the point: the weight and construction are what keep it stable under conditions where lighter bipods fail.
