Bipods and gun rests

A stable platform matters just as much as a quality scope or accurate ammunition. Arguably more. At Hop.nl you will find bipods, monopods and gun rests from Fortmeier, SleipnerX, Tier One, Bears Innovations, GRS and Caldwell. From lightweight PRS bipods to heavy F-TR models, and everything in between.

Why your bipod matters

You can have the best rifle, the most consistent ammunition, a top scope. But if your support is not up to standard, you will still shoot poor groups. That is not an exaggeration. A vibration of a tenth of a millimetre at your forend becomes a shift of centimetres on the target at 600 metres.

In precision rifle the bipod is not an accessory. It is a core part of your setup, as important as your dies or your scale. We shoot competitions ourselves and know from experience which bipods work and which do not. That is why we carry this range and nothing else.

Fortmeier

Fortmeier has been the standard in F-Class and benchrest for decades. German made, robust, reliable. The Fortmeier bipod is available in multiple variants: the H171, H184 and H210, each with a different maximum height. Five positions, solid locking, years of service life. There is a reason you see them at almost every F-Class match.

The choice between H171, H184 and H210 comes down to your shooting position and forend height. The H171 is the lowest, popular with benchrest shooters who want to be as close to the mat as possible. The H210 gives more height, useful on uneven terrain or if your rifle has a taller forend.

For mounting we carry Fortmeier adapters for picatinny, ARCA/RRS, M-LOK and specific models for the Ruger Precision Rifle and Anschütz. HunTac makes a CAS cant adjustment and an Atlas foot adapter if you want more flexibility in the field. The CAS is particularly popular with hunters shooting on uneven terrain where the rifle sits at an angle.

SleipnerX

The SleipnerX Gen3 Carbon Bipod is a lightweight carbon bipod with both Arca and Picatinny attachment. Popular in PRS where weight counts and you need to switch positions fast. Stiff enough for serious precision work, light enough that you barely notice carrying it.

We also stock interchangeable feet: ski feet for smooth surfaces and shooting mats, rubber feet for most situations, and spike feet when you shoot on soft ground or grass and do not want your bipod sliding. Swapping takes seconds, no tools needed.

Tier One

Tier One offers two models. The FTR Carbon Bipod is built for F-TR, heavy and solid, carbon legs for stiffness without excessive weight. In F-TR every gram counts because your rifle including bipod needs to stay within the weight limit. Carbon legs help with that.

The Evolution Bipod in aluminium is the more versatile option, suitable for multiple disciplines. Less specialised than the FTR, but more widely usable because of it.

Bears Innovations

The Bears F-TR Bipod is a heavy, stable model on picatinny, made for F-TR shooters who want maximum stability. No compromises, just heavy and solid. Bears also makes a picatinny monopod as a rear support. Bipod in front, monopod at the back, and your rifle sits like a rock. Many F-TR shooters use exactly that combination.

GRS and Rifle-Tech

The GRS Bipod uses a spigot mount and is built like a tank. Heavy, but if stability is your first priority it does exactly what it should. Spigot mounting means the bipod screws directly into the forend, no rail needed. That gives an extremely low profile and a rigid connection.

The Rifle-Tech Bipod on picatinny is our premium model in this category. Solid build, well finished, designed for shooters who want the best without compromise.

Gun rests and tripods

You do not always shoot prone behind a bipod. Caldwell makes two gun rests for the bench: the Handy Rest NXT and the Pistolero. Ideal for zeroing your scope or load development at the range. Your rifle sits stable, you can fully concentrate on your shot and trigger control without worrying about holding your rifle in place.

The Rokstad V-Mount Tripod is a budget friendly tripod for those who need a stable platform when shooting from sitting or standing. Compact, light, does what it needs to do at a fraction of what a premium tripod costs.

Which bipod suits your discipline

For F-Class and F-TR you want heavy and stable. Fortmeier, Bears or Tier One FTR. Those bipods sit like a rock on the mat and give you the platform you need for tight groups at 1000 yards. Weight is not a disadvantage here, it is an advantage.

For PRS you want light and fast. SleipnerX or Tier One Evolution. You switch positions, you move to the next stage, you need to be set up quickly. Every gram you do not have to carry counts.

For hunting something compact that can take a knock and is quick to mount and remove. It depends on your discipline, your rifle and your mounting system. Get in touch if you are not sure, we know exactly what you need because we use these bipods ourselves.

Frequently asked questions about bipods

What is the difference between an F-TR bipod and a PRS bipod?

Weight and speed. An F-TR bipod like the Bears or Tier One FTR is heavy and built to sit like a rock on the mat. You shoot prone, at fixed distances, and stability is everything. A PRS bipod like the SleipnerX is light, compact and quick to set up. You switch positions, carry your rifle with you, and every gram matters. Two completely different requirements.

Which mount do I need for my Fortmeier bipod?

That depends on your rifle. If your forend has a picatinny rail, you take the picatinny mount. Using an ARCA or RRS rail, then the ARCA/RRS adapter. Have a Ruger Precision Rifle or Anschütz match rifle, there are specific adapters for those models. M-LOK is also available. Check what is on your forend before ordering.

Do I need a monopod if I already have a bipod?

Not necessarily. Many shooters use a rear bag instead of a monopod. But in certain disciplines, where a rear bag is simply not convenient, a monopod such as Bears' is a logical choice. The advantage over a sandbag is that you can adjust height more precisely and it won't shift. Mainly, this is super handy for shooting on long ranges.

Can I use the SleipnerX feet on other bipods?

The SleipnerX feet are not compatible with to replace Atlas feet.

My bipod slides on the shooting mat, what do I do?

Switch to spike feet or ski feet, depending on the surface. Spikes grip soft ground, ski feet give more traction on smooth mats. Loading the bipod also helps: push your shoulder gently forward into the stock so there is constant forward pressure on the bipod. That reduces the tendency to slide and dampens vibrations.
