You only appreciate a proper reloading tray after wrestling with a universal one. Cases sitting at angles, powder spilling over the rim, rounds tipping over the moment you lift the tray. Frankford Arsenal fixed that with the Perfect Fit series. Each tray is sized for a specific case head, or a small family of cases that share the same dimensions.
Tray #8 sits in its own bracket. The pockets are dialled in for the large case heads of the .338 Lapua Magnum and the classic .45-70 Government. Two calibres you would not normally expect in one tray, but they share a rim and base diameter that fits comfortably inside the same pocket.
Why this tray works
Materials are thought through. A synthetic polymer that shrugs off Hoppe's, solvents, case lube and oil. Splatter some lube on the tray? Wipe it down. Want to rinse it out after a wet tumbling session? Run it under the tap.
The outer edge has a lip, giving you a solid grip without your fingers pressing against the cases. The base is flat, so you can stack two trays on top of each other once your first .338 batch is done and the second is underway.
When do you reach for tray #8?
A batch of 50 cases is a sensible session size for this calibre. Annealing, sizing, primer seating, powder charging, bullet seating, all run from one tray. Same goes for the .45-70 crowd, whether that is cowboy action, lever-action hunting or single shot work.
The 2-pack is practical. One tray for clean, prepped brass and the second for finished rounds. Or one for charged cases waiting on a bullet, and the second as overflow.
