AIM 55 tactical drag bag - AIM Field Sports
A precision rifle deserves proper protection, on the move and in storage. The AIM 55 does exactly that. It is the size between the AIM 50 and the AIM 60, which makes it a logical choice when your rifle is just a bit longer than a standard bag will take.
The bag takes a rifle up to 53 inches, or 135 centimetres overall length. That covers most long range setups, including a long barrel with a mounted suppressor or bipod. Several military forces use the AIM 55, so you can rely on the construction. What is built for military use holds up perfectly well on the range too.
Protection and build
The main compartment has three adjustable straps that fix your rifle in position, plus a reinforced stock support pocket. The inside is Cordura lined against tearing, and padded protection runs along the main zip to cushion your rifle and optics. The main compartment zip opens around three sides, so you reach your rifle easily. Side release clips add security when the bag is closed.
Everything is double stitched. The handles are Box-X stitched for strength. The zips are strong and have protective flaps against rain, sand and dust. Two large external pockets open around three sides and swallow a surprising amount of kit. The largest pocket is 60 cm long and 24 cm wide at its widest point; the smaller pocket measures 33 by 24 cm.
Three ways to carry
As a rucksack you carry the bag with the wide padded shoulder straps, complete with waist and sternum belts for stability in motion. Heavy duty metal carabiners on the shoulder straps add strength. When you are not using the straps, you tuck them away neatly in a zipped compartment.
As a grip bag you take the webbing handle midway along the bag, a well-balanced point for moving it horizontally. And via the webbing handle on the back you drag the bag along the ground in classic drag bag mode, or hold it upright to move through narrow corridors. The drag hood keeps debris out of the barrel while dragging.
