Tango Fire4000 Elite: Weapon-Mounted Rangefinder for Extreme Precision

The Tango Fire4000 Elite is an advanced weapon-mounted laser rangefinder that fundamentally changes how you shoot at long range. By mounting the device directly on your rifle, you stay focused on your target without breaking position. This means faster shots, better consistency, and ultimately superior performance in competitions or during extended-range hunting sessions.

Applied Ballistics Integration: The Gold Standard in Ballistics

The strategic partnership with Applied Ballistics makes the Fire4000 Elite more than just a rangefinder. Through the AB Synapse - BOSS app or the newer AB Quantum app (available for iOS and Android), you gain access to professional ballistic calculations that update in real-time with environmental conditions. You can directly synchronize your AB profiles with the device and also have the option to connect via ABE (Applied Ballistics External) mode with your Kestrel weather meter or Garmin device.

This flexibility means you can integrate the Fire4000 Elite into your existing workflow, or use the device as a standalone unit. The choice is yours, depending on how you prefer to work.

Dual Laser System for Maximum Versatility

The intelligent dual laser system distinguishes the Fire4000 Elite from conventional rangefinders. The invisible laser (Class 1, 905nm) measures distances up to 4000 yards, which translates to nearly 3700 meters. Actual range depends on target type: on reflective targets under ideal conditions you achieve the full 4000 yards, on urban structures approximately 2000 yards, and on vegetation or non-reflective surfaces around 1500 yards.

The visible red laser (Class 2, 635nm) is specifically designed for zeroing your weapon and is effective up to 100 yards. This feature makes the installation process simple and ensures your rangefinder is perfectly aligned with your optics.

High-Contrast OLED Display with Flexible Presentation

The Fire4000 Elite's OLED screen displays distance and angle immediately with excellent readability, even in bright sunlight. Adjustable brightness ensures optimal visibility of your data in all lighting conditions. Particularly practical is the ability to display the screen both vertically and horizontally, with the device mountable on either the left or right side of your rail. This ambidextrous design philosophy means you can position the Fire4000 Elite exactly as you want, regardless of your preferences or rifle configuration.

With a long press of two seconds, you easily switch between different screen orientations, allowing quick adaptation to changing conditions.

Lightning-Fast 0.5 Second Response Time

The 0.5 second response time ranks among the fastest in its class and makes a crucial difference in dynamic shooting situations. You feel a subtle vibration as soon as the device locks onto your target, giving you confidence that you have an accurate measurement without needing to look at the screen. This tactile feedback is especially valuable in competitions where every second counts, or during hunting situations where speed and silence are essential.

Practical Applications for the Serious Shooter

For precision rifle competitions, the Fire4000 Elite offers an undeniable advantage. You don't need to come off your rifle between stages or during unknown distance shooting. This not only saves time but also increases your consistency because you don't constantly need to adjust your shooting position. You remain in your natural position, aim at your target, measure distance, and take the shot, all in one fluid motion.

When developing DOPE for your specific ammunition and rifle, the Fire4000 Elite is indispensable. Accurate distance measurements and angle compensation allow you to verify your ballistics under real-world conditions. This is especially valuable on ranges with varying terrain where you regularly shoot uphill or downhill.

For shooters working with handloaded ammunition, you take load development to the next level. Test different loads at known distances and immediately see how they perform, supported by professional ballistic software.

Tango Fire4000 Quick Start Installation and User Guide

What's in the Box

  • Tango Fire4000 weapon-mounted rangefinder
  • Wired remote control with 4-pin connector
  • Adjustable hex wrench
  • Reflective stickers for zeroing procedure
  • Lens cleaning cloth
  • Cable ties and mounting hardware

Quick Installation in 5 Steps

Step 1: Mounting to Picatinny Rail

Attach the Fire4000 to your Picatinny rail or scope rings using the supplied mount. Tighten the two base screws to 45 inch-pounds (approximately 5 Nm) for a secure attachment that withstands recoil.

Step 2: Installing Battery

Insert a CR123A 3V battery with the positive terminal facing inward and negative terminal facing outward. Remove the battery during extended periods of non-use, as there is a small current draw even when the device is powered off.

Step 3: Connecting Remote Control

Connect the wired remote by aligning the red dot on the connector with the red dot on the device. Ensure pins are correctly positioned before pressing the connector in. Disconnect the remote during transport to prevent pin damage.

Step 4: Initial Settings

Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds to turn on the device. The OLED display shows your settings. Use the buttons to switch between:

  • M button (short press): Toggle between meters and yards
  • M button (long press 2 sec): Switch between ABI (internal ballistics) and ABE (external ballistics with Kestrel/Garmin)
  • D button (short press): Adjust screen brightness (3 levels)
  • D button (long press 2 sec): Change screen orientation (horizontal/vertical)
  • T button (short press): Set standby time (3, 10, 15 minutes or continuous)
  • T button (long press 2 sec): Vibration on/off
  • Visible laser button: Red 635nm laser on/off for zeroing procedure

Step 5: Zeroing Procedure at 100 Yards

For accurate ballistic solutions, you need to set the Fire4000 parallel to your optic:

  1. First zero your optic at 100 yards (or your preferred distance)
  2. Then mount the Fire4000 to your weapon
  3. Measure the distance from the center of your optic to the center of the red laser (e.g., 75mm / 2.9 inches)
  4. Place the supplied reflective sticker at exactly this distance above your point of aim on a target at 25-100 yards
  5. Aim your optic at the center of the target
  6. Activate the visible red laser
  7. Use the adjustment turrets (left/right for windage, up/down for elevation) to align the red laser precisely on the reflective sticker
  8. Verify at longer distance (preferably 100 yards) for accuracy

Note: When changing screen orientation from horizontal to vertical, you must repeat the zeroing procedure as the offset changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between ABI and ABE mode?

ABI (Applied Ballistics Internal): The Fire4000 uses its own built-in computing power and the AB Synapse app for ballistic calculations. Ideal for standalone use or when you don't have an external Kestrel/Garmin.

ABE (Applied Ballistics External): The Fire4000 only sends range data to your Kestrel weather meter or Garmin watch, which then sends ballistic solutions back. Advantage: you use real-time weather data from your Kestrel.

Do I need to re-zero the Fire4000 after changing screen orientation?

Yes, when switching between horizontal and vertical screen orientation, you must repeat the zeroing procedure because the offset between scope and laser changes.

How long does the battery last?

A CR123A battery typically lasts for 1000+ measurements, depending on visible laser use, screen brightness, and ambient temperature. Battery life is shorter in cold conditions.

Can I use the Fire4000 without a smartphone or Kestrel?

Yes, in ABI mode you can configure the Fire4000 via the AB Synapse app and then use it standalone. Ballistic profiles remain stored in the device.

Does the Fire4000 work with night vision equipment?

Yes, the OLED screen has adjustable brightness. On the lowest setting, it's suitable for use with clip-on night vision, though some users indicate an even lower setting would be ideal.

Why is the visible laser button difficult to activate?

This is intentionally designed to prevent accidental activation, which would drain the battery. You must press exactly the center of the button. Use the tip of a cartridge or small screwdriver if you have short nails.
