Application Vortex Razor HD 4000 GB
The Razor HD 4000 GB is the essential companion for the extreme hunter, archer and shooter. This highly effective angle-compensated laser rangefinder has four aiming modes (normal mode, front mode, rear mode and extended laser range mode) for any environment.
The HCD (Horizontal Component Distance) mode is intended to be the main mode. The distance shown is the distance of the horizontal component.
HCD mode
The Horizontal Component Distance (HCD) mode is your primary mode when using the on-board ballistic resolver. The displayed distance number is the critical horizontal component distance. The displayed HCD distance is corrected for the shooting angle and does not require additional user input; shooters simply use the correct bullet trap for the displayed range and shoot. Shooters use the correct ground sight pin for the displayed range.
Note: To account for the wind, you need to know the sight line distance to the target, as it is based on how far the arrow or bullet reaches the target. This can be achieved using BAL mode.
BAL mode:
In ballistic mode (BAL), an additional number appears above the range number. This number is the range angle in degrees and is automatically calculated in the wind/drop solution in the display and in the GeoBallistics® App. If you do not use the on-board solver, enter the range angle number in ballistics programmes or field maps to get the precise bullet drop in mountainous terrain. To use the Razor® HD 4000 GB on-board ballistic solver, you must be in BAL mode.
