RCBS Headed Decapping Pin 5-Pack
The headed decapping pin is the standard pin type used across the current RCBS die lineup. It seats into the expander-decapping rod inside your sizing die and pushes the spent primer out of the case during the resizing stroke. It may be a small part, but when it bends or snaps, your reloading session grinds to a halt.
Decapping pins are consumable items. Heavy use, military brass with crimped primer pockets, or cases that run a little tight through the die can all bend or break a pin. Keeping a 5-pack on the shelf means you can swap in a fresh pin in seconds and get straight back to loading.
Compatibility and fit
The headed decapping pin fits virtually all current-production RCBS dies, including:
• RCBS Reloader Special dies
• RCBS Cowboy dies
• All RCBS Precision dies (except 6mm PPC, 7mm TCU, .35 Whelen, .357 Sig, .358/.356 Winchester, and .416 Remington Magnum)
Note: pre-1990 RCBS dies with a collet-style rod require a small or large pin without a head. Always verify which pin type your die uses before ordering. The headed pin is easily identified by the wider head that locks it into the rod.
Other RCBS decapping pin types
Besides the headed pin, RCBS offers several other variants. Small pins are intended for older collet-style rods, competition-style dies, X Die mandrels, PPC calibers, and .357 Sig. Large pins fit collet-style rods for large primer cartridges, as well as competition dies for 7 TCU and .35 Whelen. Straight pins are specifically designed for .50 BMG, .416 Barrett, and .460 Steyr.

Practical tips
Always keep spare decapping pins in your reloading kit. The risk of bending a pin increases significantly when processing military brass with crimped primer pockets. Inspect your pin regularly for wear and replace it as soon as you notice any deflection. A bent pin can damage your die or even your reloading press.
These headed decapping pins are a must-have spare for any reloader running RCBS dies, whether you are just getting started or loading precision ammunition for competition. Pair them with the RCBS Universal Decapping Die for a complete depriming setup.
