Why anodized aluminium

The first generation of these tubes was made from stainless steel. Derraco switched the construction to hard anodized 6061 aluminium. Without loss of structural integrity, because the hard anodized surface (Type II) handles the abrasion of hundreds of primers per tube. The color coding runs directly with the anodizing process, so the marking doesn't wear off after a year of use.

The R-Clip pin

The release mechanism stays in stainless steel. An R-Clip pin takes considerably more wear than the tube itself, and that's by design. Inserting and removing happens with one hand, without accidentally pushing a primer the wrong way around. Anyone who's ever had a primer flipped inside a tube knows how annoying that moment is.

Tackling primer flipping

The LR pickup plastics have been redesigned. The geometry of the opening pushes primers consistently with the correct side facing up into the tube, even at slightly faster movements during pickup. In practice this means fewer interruptions to fish a flipped primer out of the tube, and a smoother workflow when you're priming a batch of a few hundred cases.

Compatibility

The outer diameter of 7.92mm is industry standard. The tubes fit the Derraco PCPS and PCPS Lite, the Hornady priming systems and other brands using the same diameter. Not intended for systems with a different tube diameter, such as some RCBS models that use 8.00mm.
