Bore Tech Cu+2 Copper Remover 473ml — the dedicated copper solvent
The Bore Tech Cu+2 Copper Remover is a patented copper solvent designed specifically for the rapid and complete removal of copper fouling from firearm bores. Where the Eliminator tackles copper and carbon simultaneously, the Cu+2 focuses exclusively on copper — and does so faster and more thoroughly than any general-purpose cleaner.
Patented two-step process
The Cu+2 works fundamentally differently from traditional ammonia-based copper solvents. Its patented two-step process begins by oxidizing copper deposits through reconfiguring the electronic state of the copper. A specially enhanced binding agent then captures the oxidized copper like a magnet, preventing it from re-depositing in the bore. This process continues at full strength without becoming saturated — a critical advantage over conventional solvents that lose effectiveness under heavy copper fouling.
When to choose Cu+2 over the Eliminator
The Eliminator is an excellent all-round cleaner that removes copper and carbon simultaneously — ideal for routine maintenance after a range session. But for heavy copper fouling, such as after breaking in a new barrel or after hundreds of rounds with fast calibers (.224, 6mm, 6.5mm), the Cu+2 delivers better results in less time. It is the cleaner you reach for when Eliminator patches still come out blue after multiple cycles.
Ammonia-free and safe for unlimited soaking
The Cu+2 is 100% ammonia-free and can remain in the bore indefinitely. Ammonia-based removers like Sweet's 7.62 or Hoppes Benchrest also work against copper, but can etch barrel steel with prolonged contact. With the Cu+2, you can apply the cleaner in the evening and patch out the next morning without any risk. The formula is also odorless, non-flammable, and biodegradable.
A benchrest and long-range favourite
The Cu+2 is the product many benchrest and precision rifle shooters reach for when maximum copper removal is needed. In disciplines where every tenth of an MOA matters, copper buildup makes the difference between a winning group and a disappointment. The patented binding mechanism ensures all copper is actually extracted from the bore — not just the top layer.
Cleaning procedure
1. Wet 3-4 X-Count patches with Cu+2 Copper Remover and push them individually through the bore (one direction only).
2. Make 10-15 passes with a tight-fitting Bore Tech nylon brush saturated with Cu+2. Always use nylon — bronze brushes cause false copper readings.
3. Repeat step 1 and let soak for 3-5 minutes. For stubborn copper fouling, extend the soak time.
4. Push dry patches through until they come out clean. Repeat if necessary.
5. For storage, apply a dampened Cu+2 patch for short-term rust protection (up to 2 weeks).
6. For extended storage, use Shield XP Rust Preventative or Friction Guard XP gun oil.
Note on nickel plating: Cu+2 can be used on nickel plating, but for no longer than 3-5 minutes. Extended contact may cause discoloration. Do not use on damaged or worn plating.
