The Proof-Positive nylon brushes from Bore Tech are essential tools for shooters who use copper-removing bore cleaners. Traditional phosphor bronze brushes contain over 90% copper. When these come into contact with a copper solvent like the Cu+2 Copper Remover or Eliminator, the cleaner dissolves the copper from the brush itself. The result: blue patches even though your bore is already clean. With the Proof-Positive nylon brushes, this problem is eliminated entirely. The core, threads, and bristles are completely brass-free, so a blue patch always means copper from the bore.
Twice the bristles for faster cleaning
Bore Tech has equipped these brushes with twice the number of nylon bristles compared to standard nylon brushes. Each caliber also features specifically tailored bristle diameters — stiffer bristles for larger calibers, finer bristles for smaller ones. This results in double the scrubbing action: the cleaner is distributed more effectively through the bore and fouling is loosened faster. In practice, you need fewer brush passes to achieve the same result.
Barrel safe and thoughtfully engineered
The double-wound core has a looped end instead of the sharp cut ends found on cheaper brushes. This prevents damage to the chamber wall when pulling the brush back through. The studs are made from aircraft-grade aluminium, contributing to durability and preventing the brush from unscrewing from the cleaning rod during use.
The brushes are 100% barrel safe. You can push and pull the brush through the bore without issue — pulling back through the bore causes no crown damage when used correctly. The .17 and .20 caliber brushes are shortened by 1 inch to reduce the force required and minimize cleaning rod flex.
Maintenance
After use, rinse the brushes under warm tap water while rolling them between your palms. Bore Tech cleaners are water-soluble, so no special solvents are needed. Allow the brushes to air dry after rinsing.
