Extreme Clean parts cleaner concentrate 946 ml - BoreTech

Anyone who has spent an evening scrubbing an AR bolt, slide or gas piston down to clean metal knows how slow it goes with patches and brushes alone. Bore Tech Extreme Clean Parts Cleaner is a concentrate built for ultrasonic baths or soak setups. Dilute with water, heat it up, drop the parts in, and the chemistry does the work that otherwise takes an hour at the bench.

What it is and what it does

A formulated blend of surfactants, penetrants and suspending agents. They lift fouling off the surface and hold it in solution so it does not redeposit on the cleaned parts. The cleaner degreases, removes carbon and powder residue and neutralises corrosive residues left behind by surplus ammunition and black powder. No ammonia, so no risk on brass or copper-containing components. Odour-free and 100% biodegradable, which makes disposal through normal wastewater straightforward.

How to use

Dilute Extreme Clean to 40:1 (around 25 ml per litre of water). Heat the solution to 120-140°F (50-60°C) and run 10 to 20 minute cycles in an ultrasonic bath. After the cycle, rinse parts thoroughly with water, dry them and lubricate immediately with something like the Friction Guard XP Gun Oil. The solution itself can be reused until the cleaning power drops off noticeably.

Important points to watch

Do not leave parts soaking for long periods, as that can cause discolouration on some finishes. With anodised aluminium and polymer parts, check every 3 to 5 minutes. On nickel plating, limit contact to 5 to 10 minutes. An oiled wooden stock can pick up blemishes because the cleaner pulls the oil out, while polymer and fibreglass stocks are not a concern. With unfamiliar coatings, test a small corner first.

Combining with brass case cleaning

If you use the same ultrasonic cleaner for both brass cases and gun parts, clean the tank thoroughly before switching over. Brass particles from case cleaning can otherwise bond to steel components. In practice it is wise to keep two tanks, or use a dedicated solution like the BoreTech Case Cleaner for brass.

Who it is for

For shooters who want their AR bolt, gas piston, compensator or revolver cylinder properly clean on a regular schedule, for reloaders running an ultrasonic bath on the bench, and for hunters servicing their rifles thoroughly at the end of the season before they go back in the safe.
