Endurance ED 25-75x85 spotting scope - Hawke

At the range you want to see where your bullets land. At 300 metres a good riflescope handles that. At 600 it gets difficult. At 1000 you need a spotting scope sharp enough to distinguish bullet holes in a black target. The Hawke Endurance ED 25-75x85 delivers that image.

ED glass and coatings

ED stands for Extra-low Dispersion. That glass refracts different colours of light more evenly, resulting in less colour fringing around high-contrast edges. At high magnifications that makes a noticeable difference in image sharpness. The lenses are Fully Multi-Coated for maximum light transmission, and the BAK-4 Porro prisms have a dielectric coating that increases reflectivity. The result: a bright, high-contrast image with true colours, even in low light or overcast conditions.

Magnification and field of view

25x to 75x. At 25x you get a wide field of view of 90 feet at 1000 yards, ideal for finding your target. Turn up to 75x and you see bullet holes in paper targets at hundreds of metres. The field of view narrows (46.5 feet at 1000 yards), but that is what the lower magnification is for: find your target low, zoom in high. The 3x zoom ratio is sufficient for most shooting sports applications.

Dual focus

Two focus knobs on the same axis. The large knob for coarse focus, the small one for fine adjustment. You find your target quickly with the coarse knob and then sharpen with the fine. Sounds simple, but the difference compared to a scope with only coarse focus is huge. At 75x a quarter turn on the fine focus knob makes the difference between sharp and blurry.

Waterproof and fogproof

Nitrogen purged. That prevents internal fogging when you go from a cold car to a warm range, or when it rains during an outdoor competition. Fully waterproof. You do not have to worry about moisture getting into the optics. At an outdoor range in November that is not a luxury.

Rotating body

The body rotates so you can position the eyepiece at virtually any angle. Sitting on a low chair behind your tripod, rotate the eyepiece upward. Standing, rotate it to the side. That flexibility makes the difference in comfort during long sessions at the range.
