Bolt action wiper patch adapter - Bore Tech
The inside of the receiver needs regular attention, and the lug recess most of all. That is where your bolt lugs lock into place, and it is also where brass shavings, powder residue, grease and solvent build up from normal shooting. Leave it untouched and you risk faster wear on your bolt lugs and the occasional malfunction at exactly the wrong moment.
Until recently this was a thankless job. Dental rolls fell apart, felt pads shed fibres and came loose, and cotton swabs never quite reached every corner. Bore Tech came up with something better: a wiper with a metal tip and a molded rubber cover that holds a regular cotton patch.
How the bolt action wiper works
Thread the metal tip onto the end of a non-rotating cleaning rod with 8/32" female threads. Centre-spike a 2.5" round patch onto the rubber wiper and dampen it with a Bore Tech solvent such as C4 Carbon Remover. Slide the rod gently into the receiver until you reach the lug recess.
Then rotate the wiper inside the recess while applying light forward pressure and pulling back against the action face. The rubber shapes itself to the receiver walls and lifts out everything that has settled there. Repeat with a clean dry patch until it comes out clean and dry.
A useful tip: before inserting, mark the rod and handle at the 12 o'clock position. Before pulling the wiper back out, rotate it back to that mark. The wiper then exits cleanly without snagging.
Will it fit your rifle?
This version is built for most 2-lug centerfire bolt-action rifles with a bolt body diameter between 0.695" and 0.700". That covers the majority of Remington, Winchester, Ruger, Browning and Savage actions, plus many custom actions built around these dimensions.
If you shoot a 3-lug action or a rifle with a different bolt body diameter, such as a Sako, Weatherby, Kimber or CZ, you need the Universal Wiper instead. That version can be trimmed to fit your specific action.
