The Benchmark phosphor bronze brushes from Bore Tech are the industry standard among bronze bore brushes. Where the Proof-Positive nylon brushes are designed for use with copper-removing solvents, the Benchmark bronze brushes offer maximum mechanical scrubbing power for loosening stubborn carbon and powder fouling. The stiffer phosphor bronze bristles tackle baked-on fouling more effectively than nylon, particularly in the chamber, throat, and gas ports of semi-automatic firearms.
Twice the bristles of standard bronze brushes
Bore Tech has equipped the Benchmark line with twice the number of phosphor bronze bristles compared to standard bronze brushes on the market. Each caliber features specifically tailored bristle diameters for optimal stiffness and fit. The result is double the scrubbing action per pass, reducing the time spent brushing. Combined with a cleaner like the C4 Carbon Remover, you can remove even the most stubborn carbon buildup in just a few cycles.
When to use bronze, when nylon?
Bronze brushes contain over 90% copper in their composition. When used with copper-removing solvents like the Cu+2 or Eliminator, the cleaner dissolves copper from the brush itself. Your patches turn blue even though the bore is already clean. Use bronze brushes preferably with cleaners that do not target copper, such as the C4 Carbon Remover, Rimfire Blend, or general-purpose bore cleaners. For cleaning sessions with copper removers, switch to the Proof-Positive nylon brushes.
Barrel safe and thoughtfully engineered
The double-wound core has a looped end that prevents damage to the chamber and crown when pulling back. The studs are made from aircraft-grade aluminium. When used correctly, the brushes are 100% barrel safe — with bronze brushes, you must push the brush completely through the bore and out the muzzle before reversing direction. The .17 and .20 caliber brushes are shortened by 1 inch to reduce the required force.
Usage instructions
Apply bore cleaner to the brush and make 6-12 passes through the bore. Always push the brush completely through and out the muzzle before reversing direction. Reapply cleaner as needed and repeat. After use, rinse the brush under warm water while rolling it between your palms.
