Anyone who works on their firearms regularly knows how often you could use a third hand. An ordinary bench vise does its best, but it is not made for the shapes and the demands of a firearm. The Real Avid Master Gun Vise is. This is a bench vise designed from the ground up for gunsmithing, optics mounting, maintenance and building firearms.
The heart of the vise is the articulating ball joint. It rotates 360 degrees, so you set your firearm at exactly the angle the work requires. No more wrestling to reach something, no compromising on your posture. You clamp your firearm, turn it to the right position and get to work.
Force where it is needed
The 8-position ball-and-socket lock with Torq-Lok is built for force. It holds up to 100 ft-lb of torque firmly in place, enough for heavy jobs like loosening or tightening a barrel nut. Where an ordinary vise starts to turn, this one stays put. The Speed-Cam compression lever lets you build strong clamping force with little effort.
Grip without marring
The vise comes with reversible Gun-Fit sleeves. One side is padded for a soft compression grip on finished surfaces, the other side is grooved to hold parts such as barrels and rails firmly. That way you clamp anything from a complete rifle to a single part, without damaging your finish. The jaw plates themselves are stainless steel and also reversible.
Perfect for optics mounting
For mounting a riflescope the integrated Accu-Level leveling knob is worth its weight in gold. With it you set your firearm perfectly level with a micro-adjustment of +/- 3 degrees, so your scope sits cleanly aligned. That saves you a lot of puzzling with your adjustment later on the range.
Part of a system
The Master Gun Vise does not stand alone. It works together with the Smart-Jaws family and is compatible with the Smart-Fit vise blocks and the Lug-Lok upper vise block for AR10 and AR15 (sold separately). That way you expand the vise into a complete workstation for your specific jobs. Mounting hardware to fix the vise to your workbench is included.
