Feeler gauge 32 blades inch/metric - iGaging
A feeler gauge is one of those tools you do not reach for every day, but miss the moment you need it. It does not measure length, it measures space. How much clearance is there between two parts, and is it even all the way round?
This iGaging set holds 32 blades from 0.0015" to 0.035", or 0.04 to 0.88 mm. Every blade carries its thickness in both systems, so there is no converting when the manual is in inches and you think in millimetres.
Uses in shooting and reloading
Checking that your barrel floats freely by sliding a blade between barrel and stock or chassis
Setting or checking the gap between sizing die and shell holder
Evening up the gaps between scope ring halves when mounting
Measuring clearance when setting up parts in the workshop
Use a light touch. A blade should slide through the gap with slight drag, not jam. If one blade passes and the next one does not, the gap sits in between. You can also stack two blades to make an in-between size.
Manganese steel with chrome finish
The blades are made from 65 manganese steel, a springy grade, so even the thinnest blades flex without kinking straight away. The satin chrome finish protects against rust. Give the blades a quick wipe with a lightly oiled cloth after use, especially if you have been handling them with sweaty hands.
For length and diameter you need a caliper or micrometer, such as the iGaging EZ Data tube micrometer for neck wall thickness.
