Electronic Caliper - Frankford Arsenal
When reloading, you measure a lot and you measure often. Case length after sizing, neck diameter before and after, overall length, primer pocket depth. All of that with one instrument. The display is large and easy to read, even when your hands are occupied or the light in your reloading room is not ideal. A single button press switches between inch and millimeter. Reloading data is almost always in inches, but the option is there if you use the caliper for other tasks as well.
What you measure at the reloading bench
The outside jaws handle case length, case diameter, and bullet diameter. The inside jaws measure internal dimensions such as the inside of a case neck after annealing. The depth rod is used for primer pocket depth and checking primer seating after priming. Three functions in one instrument.
Zeroing is done by closing the jaws and pressing zero. Do that at the start of every measuring session. Combining with a comparator
A caliper alone measures case length and OAL. If you also want to measure base-to-ogive or shoulder bump, you need a comparator insert that fits the jaws.
