EZ-Cal digital caliper 6" with XL display - iGaging
On the reloading bench, a caliper gets picked up more than almost any other tool. Case length before trimming, cartridge length after seating, a quick check of a bullet or a part. For all of that you want a display you can read at a glance, and that is what the EZ-Cal is built around.
Large display, three ways to read it
The digits are noticeably bigger than on a standard caliper. You switch between millimetres, decimal inches and fractions. The fractional mode down to 1/128" comes in handy with American sizes such as tools, bits or screws. For reloading you will mostly work in millimetres or decimal inches, at a resolution of 0.01 mm or 0.0005".
What it measures on the reloading bench
Case length, to see when it is time to trim
Cartridge overall length (COAL) after seating
Base-to-ogive and shoulder bump, together with a comparator
Bullet diameter and length as a quick check
For neck wall thickness or the diameter of a sized neck to the ten-thousandth, a micrometer is the better tool. The caliper is your workhorse, the micrometer your fine gauge.
Built for the workshop
The beam is stainless steel and the housing is IP54 rated against dust and splashing water, so a bit of powder dust, oil or a damp finger will not hurt it. The EZ-Cal responds quickly to jaw movement, so the reading is right the moment you stop sliding. It comes in a storage case with a CR2032 battery.
