Hex bushing adapter 1 1/4"-12 to 7/8"-14 steel - Lee Precision
Several heavy single stage presses have a head with a large 1 1/4"-12 thread. That lets them take big dies for heavy calibers. Most reloading dies, though, use the standard 7/8"-14 thread. To run those, you need a reducer bushing, and that is exactly what this Lee Precision adapter is.
It is straightforward. Thread the bushing into the head of your press, then screw your 7/8"-14 die into the bushing with its lock ring as usual. Need the large thread? Take the bushing out again.

These presses often come with a bushing already fitted. In that case this adapter is a replacement, for instance when the original has gone missing or been damaged. Own an RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme and lost the bushing? This adapter gets the press back to work with standard dies. On the Lee Classic Cast it is an alternative to the Breech Lock bushing, if you prefer a fixed thread.
Steel with a hex body
The adapter is made from steel, strong enough for the loads at the reloading bench, full length sizing included. The outside is hexagonal, so you can tighten the bushing into the head with a wrench and it will not turn with the die when you adjust or remove it. Snug it down firmly without going overboard, and check that the die sits straight in the press once it is fitted.
Good to know
This bushing is meant for presses with a 1 1/4"-12 thread in the head. Presses with a standard 7/8"-14 head do not need it. Lee previously sold this adapter as part number BP2979, so if that number appears in a manual or parts list, this is its successor.
