Difference with the Match Grade kit
The Match Grade Shellholder kit contains six shellholders with heights of +2, +4, +6, +8 and +10 thousandths above the standard, for fine-tuning shoulder bump on your sizing die. This single shellholder is the baseline, with SAAMI maximum height. For most reloaders this is the shellholder you use daily. The kit comes into play when you want to fine-tune shoulder bump to the thousandth, for example with competition ammunition or after switching to new brass.
420 stainless, double hardened
Many shellholders on the market are carbon steel with a thin nitride coating. Rust is a matter of time, especially if you don't wipe your cases dry after using case lube. 420 stainless solves that structurally. The double hardening at 300 degrees, following heating in a vacuum furnace, delivers a hardness of 48-53 HRC. Hard enough to handle years of wear from millions of cases, without becoming brittle.
The stop surface and the cartridge base are machined in one CNC setup. Sounds technical, but it makes the difference between a shellholder that aligns the case perfectly and one with slight play. For concentricity during sizing, this matters.
For which calibers
One shellholder works for an entire caliber family because many cartridges share the same case head and rim. Available in the following dropdown options:
- .223 Remington and family (.300 BLK, .204 Ruger, 5.56 NATO)
- .308 Winchester and family (6 BR, 6 Dasher, .243 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, .260 Rem, .22-250)
- 7.62x39mm and family (6 PPC, 6.5 Grendel, .220 Russian)
- .300 Winchester Magnum and family (7mm Rem Mag, 6.5 PRC, .300 WSM, .300 SAUM)
- .338 Lapua Magnum and family
Application
Standard use for full length sizing, neck sizing, decapping and bullet seating on any single stage or progressive press. The shellholder clicks into the common slot of Forster Co-Ax, RCBS Rock Chucker, Redding Big Boss II, Frankford Arsenal and other presses with the universal shellholder slot. Not intended for priming, for that you use the Lee Footprint priming shellholders from Derraco.
