Summit LM-404CL carbon tripod - Leofoto
Sometimes you want your spotting scope high. Standing behind the scope on the outdoor range, looking over a berm, or simply working comfortably upright without stooping all day. The Leofoto Summit LM-404CL makes that possible, without compromising on stability.
This is the long version within the Summit line. The extra-long legs give a maximum working height of a full 213.5 cm, considerably taller than the regular Summit tripods. Yet the whole thing stays stable, because the legs are made of 10-layer carbon with a thick 40 mm top section. The load capacity is 40 kg, far more than any spotting scope with a video head will ask. In practice that means: this tripod does not move, under any circumstances.
Built for stability
The Summit line stands out for its combination of sturdiness and low weight. There is no centre column, and the platform is wide and removable. It is precisely the absence of a centre column that keeps vibration to a minimum, which at high magnification makes the difference between a steady image and a dancing one. Despite the height and load capacity the tripod weighs just 2.69 kg, folded 72 cm.
The platform has a 100mm half-bowl, so alongside a ball head you can mount a professional video head. That is handy for smooth panning along a row of targets. On the sides and bottom there are UNC 3/8 screw holes for accessories, and on top of the platform sits a bubble level for quick levelling.
Flexible on any terrain
The three adjustable leg angles make the tripod suitable for almost any surface, from a flat range to rough terrain. With the legs splayed fully out you reach a minimum height of 7.2 cm, handy for a low viewpoint. The feet are interchangeable: rubber for hard ground, spikes for grip in grass and mud.
