Bore Tech Proof-Positive Bore Stix 112cm — the finest coated cleaning rod available
The Proof-Positive Bore Stix from Bore Tech is the flagship cleaning rod in the Bore Tech lineup. What sets it apart from the more affordable V-Stix is the non-brass Proof-Positive tip. This tip is completely copper-free and produces no false blue discoloration on your patches when using copper-removing solvents like the Cu+2 Copper Remover or Eliminator. You always know with certainty whether a blue patch genuinely indicates copper from the bore.
Dual bearing handle that follows the rifling
The Bore Stix features a free-floating handle with two ball bearings, not one like many competitors. The dual bearings allow the rod to rotate smoothly, with the brush or patch automatically following the rifling. This provides two benefits: more effective cleaning because the brush makes optimal contact with the lands and grooves, and it prevents jags and brushes from unscrewing during cleaning — a common frustration with non-bearing cleaning rods.
Caliber-specific steel core with zero flex
At the heart of the Bore Stix is a reinforced, caliber-specific steel core. The diameter is matched to the intended caliber, providing an optimal balance between rigidity and smooth passage. The core does not flex, even under pressure. Flex is one of the greatest enemies of bore maintenance: a cleaning rod that bows presses against the barrel wall and can cause microscopic scratches. The Bore Stix eliminates this problem entirely.
The steel core is coated with a proprietary, chemically resistant low-friction coating. This coating withstands all common bore cleaners, from the C4 Carbon Remover to the Cu+2 and Rimfire Blend. The coating does not soften and will not allow bore debris to embed into the surface, a common issue with cheaper cleaning rods.
Built-in twist rate identification system
A unique feature of the Proof-Positive Bore Stix is the built-in barrel twist rate identification system. Using a simple index dot system, you can determine the twist rate of your barrel. Mark the rod, push it through the bore, and count the degrees of rotation. Useful for shooters buying secondhand rifles or replacing barrels who want to quickly verify the twist rate.
Replaceable Proof-Positive tip
The non-brass tip is replaceable. If the tip wears after years of use, you do not need to replace the entire rod — a new Proof-Positive adapter is all you need. The tip has female 8-32 threading (industry standard), so all Bore Tech Proof-Positive patch jags and nylon brushes attach directly without additional adapters. The tip is precision-machined to provide a completely smooth, edge-free transition between rod and jag, eliminating any possibility of crown damage when pulling the rod back through the bore.
Color-coded by caliber
The rubber-grip handles are color-coded by caliber range. You can identify the correct rod at a glance, even when maintaining multiple rifles in different calibers. The rubber coating also protects your rifle stock from scratches during cleaning.
112cm working length — who is it for?
The 112cm (44 inch) working length is the choice for shooters with longer barrels. Think precision rifles with 26-28 inch barrels, F-Class rifles, benchrest setups, and ELR platforms. For shorter barrels (up to ~24 inches), the 112cm version works perfectly well, but a shorter variant may offer more maneuverability. Note: the stated length is the working length excluding the handle.
Bore Stix vs. V-Stix — the difference
The V-Stix is an excellent rod for the money, featuring color-coded hard plastic ball bearing handles and a brass tip. The Proof-Positive Bore Stix goes further with its non-brass Proof-Positive tip (no false copper readings), superior rubber-grip dual bearing handles, and a wider range of diameters and lengths. For shooters who use copper-removing solvents and want absolute certainty about when the bore is clean, the Bore Stix is the better choice.
