Pile Driver bullet puller from Frankford Arsenal
A mistake in your charge, an incorrectly seated bullet or a batch you want to rebuild — there are plenty of reasons to break down loaded rounds. The Frankford Arsenal Pile Driver is a wall-mounted bullet puller that works with spring power. No endless hammering like with a traditional kinetic puller, but a controlled impact via a lever mechanism. It is faster, more comfortable and less taxing on your components.
How does the Pile Driver work?
The operation is straightforward. Insert the cartridge bullet-first into the spring-loaded collet on the carrier. Slide the carrier into the Pile Driver and lock it in place. Pull the handle up — this tensions two springs. Lower the handle and at the bottom of its stroke the springs release. The inertia force pulls the bullet from the case. The bullet and powder fall together into the transparent catch cup at the bottom. Remove the case, load the next cartridge.
For stubborn rounds, simply repeat the process. Most cartridges come apart after one or two strokes. The entire process takes just a few seconds per round, making the Pile Driver considerably more efficient than a traditional hammer-type puller.
Two carriers for a wide calibre range
The Pile Driver ships with a carrier suitable for cartridges up to .30-06 Springfield in length. For longer cartridges up to .338 Lapua Magnum, a longer carrier is available separately. The spring-loaded collet in the carrier adapts to different case diameters, so you do not need calibre-specific parts.
Mounting
The Pile Driver is screwed to a wall or sturdy workbench using the included screws. You need a solid surface — wood works best. Once mounted, it is always within reach. Two of the four mounting screws sit behind the handle, so you need to insert the carrier and lift the handle to access them.

When do you need a bullet puller?
It happens more often than you might think. A wrong powder charge, a bullet seated too deep or too shallow, or simply a load that does not perform as expected at the range. In all these cases you want to recover your components rather than discard them. Bullets, powder and brass are not cheap — with a bullet puller you extract everything undamaged and can start over.
