Micro Needles for the Shooting Technology L.E.M. Case Cleaner
These magnetic micro needles from Shooting Technology are the cleaning medium for the L.E.M. electromagnetic cartridge case cleaner. Made from ferromagnetic stainless steel, the needles are dragged through the water by the neodymium magnets inside the L.E.M. machine. As they move, they scrub every surface of your brass cases, both outside and deep into the case neck, primer pocket and flash hole. The result is cases that look brand new and are ready to reload.
Three Sizes for Different Applications
Shooting Technology offers the micro needles in three lengths: 3 mm, 4 mm and 5 mm. Your choice depends on the type of brass you're cleaning and how thorough you need the cleaning to be.
3 mm Micro Needles
The shortest variant (150 gram pack) is ideal for pistol brass and smaller rifle calibers. Their compact length allows them to penetrate narrow case necks and reach the flash hole more effectively than the longer variants. Particularly suited for action shooters processing large volumes of 9mm, .40 S&W or .223 Rem brass.
4 mm Micro Needles
The mid-length variant (140 gram pack) offers a solid balance between cleaning power and accessibility. Suitable for most calibers ranging from pistol to standard rifle brass. A versatile choice when you work with multiple calibers.
5 mm Micro Needles
The longest variant (120 gram pack) ships as standard with all L.E.M. machines. These needles deliver the most polishing power and are excellent for larger rifle brass such as .308 Win, .30-06 and bigger. Their added length means more mass per needle, making them more efficient on larger surface areas.
How Do the Micro Needles Work?
The principle is simple yet highly effective. Place your decapped brass into the L.E.M. tank, add the micro needles along with water, a small amount of dish soap and optionally a splash of anti-limescale solution. Once the machine runs, the electromagnetic field drags the needles through the liquid. They polish and clean every square millimetre of the cases, including areas that tumbling media or ultrasonic cleaners can never reach. After an average of 20 to 40 minutes, your brass is clean, shiny and ready for the next reloading cycle.
Maintenance and Lifespan
The stainless steel needles are exceptionally durable and show virtually no wear. After use, simply rinse them with clean water and allow them to dry. Use the optional magnetic recovery tool to easily separate the needles from your brass after cleaning. Over time you will gradually lose some needles (they occasionally remain inside cases), so it's wise to keep a spare pack on hand. You can also mix different sizes in a single wash cycle for an even more thorough result.
