Turbo Sonic 2500 ultrasonic case cleaner - Lyman
Dry tumbling cleans the outside of a case. The inside, and especially the primer pocket, stays dirty. The Lyman Turbo Sonic 2500 works differently. Ultrasonic waves at 42,000 Hz generate microscopic bubbles in the cleaning solution that implode on contact with the metal, a process called cavitation. Those implosions strip fouling, carbon, and primer residue from every surface the liquid touches, including deep inside the primer pocket and along the inside of the case wall, with no disassembly required.
Heated tank with 5 timer programs
The stainless steel tank holds 2,500 ml and heats to 65°C via the built-in heater. Warm solution noticeably improves cleaning performance: grease and carbon dissolve faster and more completely. The digital timer offers five settings: 90, 180, 280, 380, and 480 seconds. The 90-second cycle is particularly useful as a rinse pass with clean water after the main cleaning run. Pressing OFF only pauses the cycle; to fully power down you unplug the unit from the wall.
Capacity and use
One load takes 900 9mm cases, 400 .223 Rem cases, or 250 .308 Win. cases. For best results, load the basket outside the tank, lower it slowly into the solution, and give it a gentle shake to release any air bubbles trapped inside the cases. If you used the heater, remember the water will be hot when you pull the basket out. Tilt the basket over the tank to drain solution from the cases before setting it down on a towel.
Cleaning solution
Lyman supplies two separate solutions for this cleaner: one for brass, copper, and bronze (also suitable for gold jewellery), and one for steel and anodised aluminium gun parts. The case solution does not work on aluminium or plain steel; the parts solution should not be used on non-anodised aluminium or silver. Never mix either with other cleaning products. With a fresh batch of cases and new solution, run the unit empty for 5 minutes first to degas the liquid, removing dissolved gases that would otherwise reduce ultrasonic energy.
After cleaning, cases can be dried quickly in the Brass Dryer Platinum Series - Frankford or the Sirocco brass dryer - Shooting Technology. Shooters who prefer wet tumbling with media will find the Wet/Dry case tumbler - Frankford a solid alternative. The Case Cleaner - BoreTech is worth looking at as an alternative cleaning solution.

Who is the Turbo Sonic 2500 for?
Reloaders who want their cases genuinely clean, inside and out, without spending a lot of time on it. The Turbo Sonic 2500 is compact enough for a standard reloading bench, large enough for serious batch sizes, and straightforward to operate. A clean primer pocket makes consistent priming easier and gives you more confidence in your loads. If you process a lot of brass and want to move past the limitations of dry tumbling, this is a reliable and well-priced entry point into ultrasonic cleaning.
