Frankford Arsenal Quick-N-EZ Media Separator
The Frankford Arsenal Quick-N-EZ Media Separator is a plastic sifting tray that allows you to quickly and easily separate your brass from tumbling media after cleaning. Place the separator on top of a standard bucket (3.5 or 5 gallon), pour in the contents of your tumbler, and the media falls through the perforated bottom while your brass stays in the tray.
Simple but effective
The concept is straightforward and works well. The side walls are approximately 12 cm (4¾ inches) high, providing enough room to process a full load from your vibratory tumbler in one go. The perforations in the bottom are sized for common dry tumbling media such as walnut shell and corn cob. These fall through without issue, while cases in all common calibres remain neatly in the tray.
When wet tumbling with stainless steel media pins, the separator also works, but it is wise to hang a paint strainer in the bucket to catch the small pins. The perforations in the separator are large enough to let most stainless steel pins pass through, which is exactly the point: you want the brass separated from the pins.
Use in practice
Most reloaders use the media separator as a fixed step in their cleaning process. After a session in the vibratory tumbler or rotary tumbler, pour everything into the separator, shake back and forth a few times, and your brass is ready to dry or reload straight away. It saves considerable time compared to picking media out of your cases by hand.
The separator fits standard buckets available at any hardware store. You do not need a specific Frankford Arsenal bucket. A regular 5-gallon (approximately 20-litre) bucket works perfectly.
