Brass Case Cleaner Super Concentrate 480 ml - Birchwood Casey
After reloading or shooting, your brass is covered in residue. Sizing lube from resizing, powder fouling on the inside, oxidation and discolouration on the outside. Before your cases go through the dies again, you want them clean. The Birchwood Casey Case Cleaner is specifically made for that purpose. Not a general-purpose cleaner that happens to work on brass, but a formula developed for cleaning brass cartridge cases without damaging them.
Super concentrate with high yield
The 480 ml bottle is a concentrate. Mix it with water according to the instructions on the label and you get over 7 litres of ready-to-use cleaning solution. That is enough to clean approximately 8,000 medium-sized cartridge cases. For most reloaders that means hundreds of sessions before the bottle runs out. The solution is also reusable. After use, store it in a plastic or glass container, not metal, and you can use it multiple times before it becomes saturated.
What it removes
The formula tackles four common types of contamination. Sizing lube left on the cases after resizing. Oil and grease from handling. Powder residue that builds up on the inside of the neck and shoulder. And oxidation or discolouration that dulls the brass. After cleaning, your cases have their original shine back. That is not just cosmetic. Clean cases run more smoothly through your dies and give more consistent neck tension.
Safe for your brass
The solution is water-based and works without aggressive chemicals. Non-etching, so it does not attack the brass surface. Non-fuming, so you can work with it without extra ventilation. And it does not weaken the cases, which is a risk with some cleaning agents if you soak too long. Soak your cases for 3 to 5 minutes, rinse with clean water and let them dry completely. After that they are ready for inspection and the next reloading cycle.
Using it with tumbling
The Case Cleaner works well as the first step in your brass cleaning process. Soak the cases in the Birchwood Casey solution first to remove sizing lube and heavy contamination. Rinse and dry them. Then place them in a vibratory tumbler or rotary tumbler with polishing media for the final finish. By cleaning chemically first and then polishing mechanically, you get the cleanest result without your polishing media fouling up quickly.
Using an ultrasonic cleaner? The Case Cleaner also works as an additive to the water bath of your ultrasonic machine. The combination of the concentrate with ultrasonic vibrations gives a more thorough clean than either method on its own.
